Quinta do Furão

Quinta do Furão is a working wine estate on the cliffs near Santana, on Madeira's green north-east coast — a six-hectare property where vineyards run to the cliff edge above the Atlantic and the manor house has welcomed guests since the seventeenth century.

Its 45 rooms face the sea, the mountains or the estate's own vines, decorated in light, warm tones; balconies look down the coast to the Rocha do Navio reserve. The estate paths drop through the vineyard rows to lookout points over the cliffs.

The restaurant is one of the island's most loved tables — espetada grilled over laurel wood, Madeiran specialities and the estate's own cellar. Levada walks, Santana's thatched houses and the wild north coast begin at the doorstep.
