Saccharum stands in a natural amphitheatre on Madeira's southwest coast at Calheta, directly beside the marina and the island's golden-sand beach — a design resort whose interiors by Nini Andrade Silva pay tribute to the sugar cane that built this coastline's fortunes.

The Saccharum Spa philosophy draws on Ayurveda: a heated indoor pool, sauna, Turkish bath, jacuzzi, sensorial showers and a halotherapy room, with treatments in a refined, low-lit world of dark stone.

Four pools crown the stay, led by a rooftop infinity edge suspended between sky and ocean. Dining runs from the Engenho buffet to the Alambique à-la-carte and the Trapiche bar over the water — with Calheta's golden sand, the marina's restaurants and the west-coast levadas at the door.
